This presentation will provide an in-depth overview of the various financing mechanisms employed in nature-based solutions projects. It will begin by examining the primary challenges faced and potential solutions, highlighting both commonly used financing instruments and emerging innovative approaches.
Additionally, the presentation will include a financial analysis of the mangrove reforestation project undertaken in the Sine Saloum and Casamance regions, as part of the Natur’ELLES initiative. This analysis is based on preliminary findings concerning the project’s financial viability and evaluates the most appropriate financing mechanisms to ensure its long-term sustainability. Among the options considered are payments for ecosystem services, results-based financing, and other solutions tailored specifically to the project’s context.
The aim of this session is to foster dialogue among participants regarding the preliminary financial analysis findings, to solicit their feedback and suggestions, and to collectively validate the relevance of the results presented.
